| | this show was the second of two this term looking at leftfield | |
| | focusing, this time, on their work from the latter half of the | |
| | nineties. i started with a few tracks and remixes from '95 and | |
| | their classic album 'leftism'. these included the 1995 reissue | |
| | of 'release the pressure', one of my favourite leftfield tunes | |
| | (the divine 'melt') and their collab with toni halliday. after | |
| | that i moved onto some of their more recent work starting with | |
| | 'phat planet' which infamously appeared in a teevee commercial | |
| | for guiness and marked, along with the release of their second | |
| | album 'rhythm & stealth', the duo's long-awaited return to the | |
| | musical limelight after several quiet years. i also played the | |
| | funky 'afrika shox' (with leftfield in collaboration with hip- | |
| | hop electro pioneer afrika bambaataa), 'dusted' cowritten with | |
| | u.k. hip-hop innovator roots manuva (and here remixed in a nu- | |
| | skool breakz stylee by buckfunk 3000) and a mix of 'swords' by | |
| | german electronica outfit to rococo rot. you can find out more | |

| | featuring more releases from tom middleton and mark pritchard. | |
